A variation of the floral skirt outfit a few posts down (see that >here<), but this time it’s the plain black skirt over a striped tunic in manner of some figment of my ‘French People Dress Like This Honestly!’ fantastical imagination. Both pieces are from topshop.co.uk, as I am still straight up boycotting Irish Topshops, what with the ridiculous imaginary inflation they put on the currency exchange. Oh it’s £55.00, but €87.00 is it??!!? Great clothes, bad maths.

The striped tunic is sold out in navy, but they have a beautiful grey version still available…perfect on the beach on it’s own (it’s SHORT!) or with a longer skirt worn over it for day wear. Note this though,  it’s not a great shape on the bust and shoulder, hence the fur effect, but is great on the back and eh….lower back…if you catch my roundy shaped drift.

Tunic : £20.00 Topshop (see >here<)

Skirt: £18.00 Topshop (see >here<)

Fur: Vintage

Belt: Same old River Island man’s belt that I MUST stop wearing.

Wedges : €9.00 (?)Brown leather Faith wedges…

Excuse the bad macbook photos, will do a shoot this week for more proper outfit posts!

I love this photo project by Dina Goldstein, a little depressing, but beautifully shot.

Here we have Snow White and Cinderella, life didn’t turn out quite so fairy tale happy for these these two *sigh*….click >here< to see the rest.

How hot is it by the way? Where am I, what country is this? Is this real life?

The outfit today seems to be inspired by ‘If Dolly Parton Was Swedish…’ complete with china plate patterned top and floral denim skirt. I have also been playing around with this semi-beehive hair style for a week or two, and I just can’t seem to quit it. I do tend to binge on certain styles though, til’ I can take the time to put together a new one, so for now, it shall remain….

 Top :   H&M I think it was around €18.00…

Skirt : Moschino skirt that I got in a second-hand shop for €5.00. Good deal.

Belt : River Island man’s one again (binge, binge).

Wedges : a Faith, I bought them in the sale for €8.00 around 3/4 years ago, and they literally gop on my feet at the start of every Summer and rarely come off til some time in September. They are absolutely falling apart, but me loves them.

Nail varnish is Bright Pink by Gosh.

Also thank you!!! to Dave over at The Coffey Filter for his lovely photography skills..You’re hired! ; )

It is the Summer you know…time to break out the white and greys and all that floaty ass jazz. On a recent night out however,  I just couldn’t be swayed from a bit of black. I know, it’s wrong, but there are flowers on the skirt…and eh..flowers are quite Summery! No?!

The outfit consisted of :

American Apparel U necked dress - I bought the ’small’, it’s as tight as a m*thafucka, but it really holds you in and gives you a great silhouette. See it here

Topshop shirred waist floral skirt. Sold out online, but probably still in the shops. The pattern (see photo below) reminds me of 1940’s wallpaper, which is always pleasant. It was around £25 online, but probably €432.98 in Ireland. Grrr. They also come in other colours, and are a fantastic fit.. see them here.

The brown leather belt is a man’s belt from River Island….but you’d do a lot better for your money in a second hand shop. Urban Outfitters in Temple Bar has some vintage men’s belts on sale for €7. Good deal.

The shoes you can not see, but I’ll get a photo of them for future outfits - Penneys’ De Havilland ripoff wedges in black, €20 and they burn the soles off your feet. Time for the Nike insoles….

Interior Stylist Atlanta Bartlett is one of my favourite housey type designery peoples.  She’s all about being comfortable with white, grey and soft hues throughout the home, without leaving the space sterile and unusable. Whenever I’m doing up a room, I always have a quick re-read of her books ‘At Home With White & The Relaxed Home.’ Having good guides like these make all those itsy bitsy decisions just a tiny bit easier, and to anyone who’s ever done up their home, you KNOW how those same teeny weeny decisions can take over your entire, godforsaken life…*sigh*..but I do love it…

So much talk about the monies, no-one seems to be paying any mind to the fact that the weather has quite seriously developed some kind of bipolar disorder. Oh no wait - it’s just drunk, is it?
Anyway, depending on your view point, it’s wrong to wear fur in June, or at all… but if this fe-fe-fe-freezing situation keeps up, I’ll be forced to…

Fur: Vintage

Grey Hoody: 5 euro from Penneys

Man’s vintage tee: Robbed from my friend and pulled apart at the neck.

Jeans : H&M

Gladiators : River Island (last year.)

Bright Pink Nail Varnish : Gosh

Welcome to my blog! Allow myself to introduce myself, my name is Blanaid Hennessy. I used to be the only Blanaid Hennessy and then some other Blanaid bird in Waterford married a guy called Richard Hennessy (no relation, to me, or her…) and now there are two Blanaid Hennessys…but! I have devised a cunning plan to beat her in google, and that is to type Blanaid Hennessy a lot in this post. Take that Blanaid Hennessy (2)!!! I’m not saying that I hope they get divorced….(joking!)

At this stage in internetting history, there is no real need to go into a big boring spiel about what I intend to do on here, save for the fact that it is expected of me to do just that in the very first post…so I shall.

I’ll be posting on: outfits, shoots, interiors, design, media, photoshop tutorials, stuff I’m selling, a song I like, shoes I fancy, boys that are nice and other randomness and frivolity that is completely and totally unnecessary.

Sometimes I’ll post on an outfit I’ll be wearing, other times on a shoot in a magazine I liked, or I’ll feature a house I’ve been working on…as I said - randomness and frivolity, randomness and frivolity. Good times.

I’ll be updating most days, so please, add me to your bookmarks and come pay a visit every now and again.

Instead of just recommending books, cds and dvds, I’ve set up an Amazon Bookstore, linking to the items for sale from other sellers.

I’ll add interior and fashion reference books, cds, dvds, non-fiction, prints and just any old thing I love really, in there. Check back for regular additions.

Here’s the link > Blanaid.com booktore, or just click on the shop link in the navigation bar over there>> on my site.

P.S I’m not selling this stuff personally, just linking to people who are…
