Exactly Blau! :)

Thanks for the links Alex, they got caught in my sensitive spam queue, just seeing them now! Sea of Shoes makes an eh...interesting point >

"I have never seen the point of a feedback system on a personal style blog."

...which got me thinking, why do us personal style bloggers have comments sections at all, based on Sea of Shoes argument? Well here's my answer, eh...even if it wasn't asked for! ;) (Prepare for considerable rambling now...3..2..)

I know myself that, as a frequent blog visitor, sometimes I just really want to tell the blogger - 'I love that!,' and acknowledge that hey, I was here, visiting you, took some time out of my day, and it was worth it, keep it up! etc etc...I never saw leaving comments as 'unnecessary', just well, a little note to the owner of the house after a pleasant visit.

Personally, I am more than thrilled when people do take the time to say, you know what, I liked that, I'm going to click on the little comments thingy and write some words, just to say I liked that.... Because the whole reason I put the post up was to say; I like this, do you? Otherwise. Well...what IS the point of a blog? If I wanted to just collate images so I can remember outfits, or images from other sites, or new collections, or whatever, I could keep them in a folder on my desktop. The idea was to share them with people who might also like them. If I were to then turn off my comments, I feel it would be like saying 'Here it is...what do you think...NO don't tell me!'..

Again, this is all based on the circumstances of just having a blog and turning comments off because people have an opinion. I still agree with bloggers turning them off when they're getting a considerable amount of nasty stuff. Nothing is worth having that kind of negative bull in your life.

Until, if, when, etc I do get the haters, I'm just going to keep on posting, enjoying any comments, and having a bit of craic with the whole thing. That was the idea of it all in the first place, and I hope I never get to the stage where that has to change.

Ramble, ramble, ramble... ;)

ooh didn't know all that - the girl I'm talking about is quite young I think..but if it's pure jealousy and not style related then fair enough,I haven't seen any of her comments - I came across her blog after seeing her featured on a certain popular fashion programme and perhaps this explains a lot..running a successful blog is a full time job indeed so fair play to anyone that is committed and builds up a stong band of followers and esp to have the confidence at a very young age..

Definitely agree with the weight/face thing! P.S just re-read my post. Apologies for the crap spelling. Must've been thinking faster than I was typing

Apparantly the blogger from http://seaofshoes.typepad.com/ (cant remeber her name) said one time that she hates overly negative and nice comments in equal measure. She finds the overly nice ones boring and prefers active discussion and debate on what she wears

she should get herself over to stylebitches - she'd have no shortage of a good oul argument!!!:)

Hmmmm think I know the blog you're talking about. I know of one blogger who has received much press attention in the US in the last year who has disabled comment posting on her blog and I understand why. This girl was getting a lot of flak and jealousy for issues which were unrelated to her style and clearly motivated by jealousy and bitterness. Very uncool, totally irrelevant, and so I can totally understand her position.

Have also seen a very well known English blogger (is it VERY uncool to name names?) who has recently posted verbatim some of the comments she has received about her writing style and addressed them publicly. Very funny!

Hey Sinead! Thanks, I got that...stalking away! I actually know her blog, but wasn't a frequent visitor.

I think you're right, it's more her attitude that is rubbing people up the wrong way than her points...

Hey Diary,

I think I know that site, and I completely agree with her decision. We know that it's basically a full time job running a blog, and the last thing you want to do is moderate hundreds of comments and weed out the really nasty ones. The hating comments she was getting were beyond mean, and nothing to do with the clothes, unlike the one comment left on Sinead's example. So I think fair play to her, I'd probably do the same if I were her... No-one needs that negativity in their lives!

That's just my opinion anyways..!
