fancy-41fancy-453Odd isn’t it, how one person can make you feel both entirely comfortable, and completely awkward, all at the same time. I’m not complaining though, the truth is, I kind of like it. At least it isn’t boring. Or settled. Or boring. Did I say that already? Well, there you go, if I was to describe you, I would say - you’re certainly not boring. Which is exactly my favourite kind of person.

Found this incredible shoot via one of my favourite Irish fashion blogs, The Style Strutter‘, which is written by Corkonian Cathy Lawson. The shoot is for Vogue Paris, featuring model Natasha Poly. Makes me want to go and buy some patterned pieces.

P.S (Also inspired by Cathy’s P.S..) …Although Blanaid.com didn’t make it to the finals of the Irish Blog Awards, I’m thrilled that myself and Laura Cunningham’s satirical fashion blog The Stylebitches’ made the shortlist for ‘Best Newcomer.’ Thank you for nominating us! x

The worst advice to listen to is often all of the advice that is offered. Maybe some situation, to the outside world, is not normal. Maybe it appears unhealthy, or illogical, or unworthy, or just..odd. But - for you, it works. It feels like it should. So don’t take the outside advice and try to change something so personal, so perfectly odd, just so it suits outside perception. Just…enjoy it. Stop questioning it, stop asking for advice, stop taking advice, stop gossiping about it, stop wondering and starting rows and testing, testing…stop pushing the buttons and just go with it. No-one can give you the answers you need, if you don’t even know what the real questions are…

..and maybe, just maybe, there are no questions.

pen-tidiesI’ve never been a huge fan of the use of black in spaces, but I have no principles, so am therefore allowed to change my mind! ; )

The first and third images are from Emma’s Design Blogg, perfect set ups. The second image is from Johanna Vintage, the letter ‘E’ pleases me - find similar on etsy and ebay. . Finally, the brilliance of old tins painted in blackboard paint from Poppytalk.

I just love Moselle’s photography, and no, not just because we did some shoots together! I think she is just incredibly talented, with a serious appreciation and understanding of capturing colour and interest in her images. I think these three are my favourites, but it’s very hard to choose! See more of her work >here< and >here<

…and then, one day, it’s finally over. You think you’ve just been putting one part of yourself on hold. When it’s over, you realise that, actually, your entire life has been on hold.

..and doesn’t it feel good to press play?

My taste is slowly, ever so slooowly, reverting back to bygone days - all beehives, nipped in waistlines, full skirts. This shoot is by Terry Tsiolis for Russian Vogue, featuring Inga Eriksdottir, and, while there aren’t many pieces of clothing going on, I love it.

I’m delighted to be the Irish Independent’s new resident interior designer, my comuln is now in their property section every Friday. Thrilled! Each week, I take a house for sale and give it a hypothetical makeover. How? Well, allow myelf to explain myself..! I use an ‘inspirational’ image, and then I find products available in and to Ireland inspired by that eh..inspirational image. This Friday will be my 10th article, so I really need to catch up on posting them on the blog!

This was the third article, and here’s the info - hope it’s useful in any way, shape or form!

As you may or may not know from me going on and on about it, I’m organising ‘Absolut Style at Set’, a vintage fashion, film and furniture fair for Langton’s House Hotel, Kilkenny ( 2nd, 3rd and 4th of April.) It’s to showcase their new SET theatre, which is quite lovely and beautiful, designed by interiors guru David Collins.

My brother Eoin is a photographer, so we did a shoot in the SET theatre for our press package, and here are the results!

Hair piece : Hand dyed Silk Chiffon and Velvet headpiece/corsage adorning a birdcage veil: €100.00 and Vintage Brooch: €15.00 both from Millinery By Rebekah Patterson , The Market Slip, Kilkenny.

Dress :  1970’s Gunne Sax strapless cream lace ballerina dress: €125.00. Vertigo Vintage, Dublin and Kilkenny.

Hair : by the quite brilliant Anne, at Kieran O’Gorman Hair and Beauty Day Spa, the Butterslip, Kilkenny. (see more below)

Shoes : Dunnes Stores €15.00, but they hurt!

More info on the ‘Absolut Style at Set’ weekend to follow, or read a bit about it >here<. Tickets go on sale tomorrow…

Thanks to Eoin for taking the photos!

You know the way people say that things happen because God, or whoever’s in charge, thinks you’re strong enough to deal with them? I would like an appraisal meeting with the boss. Not to fill out a complaints form, but to ask ‘really, you think?’ I just want to hear ‘yes, actually, I do.’

It’s not so much the affirmation I need, more of a reminder.

Apologies for the cheesy headline…just a lovely selection of interior images from Frank Features‘, via Emma’s designblogg. Both websites are a bit of a feast of inspiration.

I love the retro mustard/green accents in the white bathroom - thieving that for the studio…also the shelves stacked with sundries in the kitchen, and the colours of both the walls and the linen in the bedroom.

I do not need any more prints - but this one from Studio Violet is just too dinky. I think I’ll put it  in the bathroom of the new studio…

It cost €27.00 including shipping >here<.
