New Look picked this site as one of their favourite Irish Fashion Blogs, which was a lovely surprise. They were celebrating 20% off for Irish shoppers. It was even nicer to be mentioned alongside some of my personal favourite bloggers such as:

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to Rosemary Mac Cabe over in the Irish Times for her continued support of Irish fashion, photographers and designers. She is one of the most intrepid bloggers out there, and I’m not just saying that because she did an epic post on Shutterbug! (read it <here> ) Her blog is actually one of my few daily reads (time constraints rather than lack of choice!) because I like her take on life. She’s interesting and intelligent. What more could you ask for from a blog?!

She has also inspired me to up my game on my own coverage of Irish fashion, art and design. This blog is no Irish Times of course, but I know, from my own experience, what a boost any coverage at all is to a body worn out from the strain of self employment in the creative field! So do get in touch if you would like something to feature here and I will do my very best!

Thanks once again to Rosemary, and to everyone who has supported both this blog and our studio. I can’t tell you enough, how much we appreciate it…

30 years on…

30th

I’m 30 years old today, and I’m very excited to be heading in to a new decade..particularly if it’s anything like the last three (although memories of the first are hazy, and the third for that matter..)

So this is just a post to say - to all of the people who have made my life so incredibly FULL of dancing, laughing, talking, messing, some crying, learning, thinking, and one more time, for good measure, laughing  - THANK YOU! Today, I’m just going to be grateful and happy and excited about everything, and stay hopeful that this next decade brings more of the same, and for you too, reading this right now.

P.S this blog is also ‘one years of age’ this month  - so thank you very much for taking the time to read, or comment on, my ramblings  - I very much appreciate it all! …and to the person who made me start it - thank you - you win a prize - a pony! ;) x

Just a quick post to say that I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, and thank you to everyone who has supported the blog since I started it back in May. Whether you’ve written about, written a comment on it, told someone about it, linked to it, worked on a shoot for it, hired me through it, or just visited every now and again, I appreciate it all so very much!

Sorry for the lack of Fancy Friday and The Bloggers’ Digest, but it’s been one of those weekends…! Laura and I were at the IMTV awards, which were absolutely brilliant - the first Irish Music Television Awards, which recognised the talents not just of Irish musicians, but video directors, stylists etc…then on Saturday night, Laura and I were DJing (!) in SPY on South William St., followed by the housewarming paty. Now we’re on the way out to try and remove the pain of our heads, so full service will resume tomorrow…

To everyone that came out on Saturday night, it was truly one of the best nights of my life, and a special thank you to Anthony Remedy, Corina Gaffey and Lili Forberg for making it happen..It was just brilliant, I’d highly recommend going to SPY, we were leaping about the furniture and they just let us get on with it! Love that…our new favourite place.

My ‘bestest!’ friend Shonagh got married to the lovely Glenn yesterday, and as the boss ninja chief bridesmaid, I was away doing my thing with her this week. I’ll do a proper post on the wedding next week, as it was truly the most  brilliant, emotional, beautiful, hilarious, fun and epic day ever…

Irish Examiner with Annmarie O’Connor

Annmarie O’Connor featured me in her Fashionista Files in the Irish Examiner on Saturday, I was away at the Electric Picnic that day, so here’s just  a BAD photo I took of the page (please accept is as proof..!) Once I get the image and the interview, I’ll post them here.. A huge thank you to Annmarie, she has been a fantastic supporter, not just of this blog, but of any new fashion bloggers in Ireland. I would also HIGHLY recommend you buy the Irish Examiner on a Saturday, the magazine that comes with it is brilliant!

Irish Web Awards

Three websites I was involved in have been nominated for an Irish Web Award..!  A huuuge thank you to those who niminated, hopefully they’ll make the final list so fingers crossed…!

I designed this website, and along with Caroline Niland from Make- Media and Conor Langon, had a hand in the design for ‘The Stylebitches’ - both are up in the ‘most Beautiful Website’ category.I also designed ‘The Coffey Filter‘, which is up with ’The Stylebitche’; in ‘Best Entertainment Website’..let the battle commence! : )

As everything was all a-to and a-froing last week, I never posted about ‘The Lovely Surprise.’ ‘The Lovely Surprise’ occurred last Saturday when I was sitting in my parent’s house, eating their food, drinking their tea and reading their Saturday’s Irish Times Magazine. I stumbled on an article on social networking, and recognised the photo from The Irish Fashion Bloggers’ Brunch that I attended last month. So I read on…lo and behold, Annmarie O’Connor had mentioned this very site in her interview with Rosemary Mac Cabe! It was so funny, I was saying ‘No way!’ and my mam was saying ‘What?!’…’No way!’…’What?!’…’No way! That’s mad!’…’WHAT!!’…etc …ha ha! It was a great little moment.

Welcome to my blog! Allow myself to introduce myself, my name is Blanaid Hennessy. I used to be the only Blanaid Hennessy and then some other Blanaid bird in Waterford married a guy called Richard Hennessy (no relation, to me, or her…) and now there are two Blanaid Hennessys…but! I have devised a cunning plan to beat her in google, and that is to type Blanaid Hennessy a lot in this post. Take that Blanaid Hennessy (2)!!! I’m not saying that I hope they get divorced….(joking!)

 At this stage in internetting history, there is no real need to go into a big boring spiel about what I intend to do on here, save for the fact that it is expected of me to do just that in the very first post…so I shall. 

I’ll be posting on: outfits, shoots, interiors, design, media, photoshop tutorials, stuff I’m selling, a song I like, shoes I fancy, boys that are nice and other randomness and frivolity that is completely and totally unnecessary.

Sometimes I’ll post on an outfit I’ll be wearing, other times on a shoot in a magazine I liked, or I’ll feature a house I’ve been working on…as I said - randomness and frivolity, randomness and frivolity. Good times. 

I’ll be updating most days, so please, add me to your bookmarks and come pay a visit every now and again.
