Andrew Clancy just spent a year in New York, filming the smallest of details of his day to day life; exchanged glances, secret jokes, the thrill of winning, the morning stretch of a city that was slightly resting, never fully asleep.

He captures the lifestyle, the movies in the park, the culture, the talent, the days filled with beauty and the night time beats. So elegantly shot, so perfectly edited, so suitably put to the incredible sound of James Vincent McMorrow. It makes me want to be there, now.

Watch it >here< and please do share it. Not for any commercial reason, just because I really think it should be…

fade-street

Fade Street starts tomorrow evening on RTE TWO at 9pm! Why yes, since you asked… I AM very excited about this, and not just because I know the people who worked very hard behind the scenes, but because the stars of the show seem verrrry interesting and I have no shame in admitting my love for MTV’s ‘The Hills’ and ‘The City.’ All in all, good ingredients for me to not only support this Irish production, but actually sit down, watch it, and give it a good chance of becoming a weekly television fixture in my little life.

Will you be watching?

This man, Eduordo Recife is such a genius it kind of makes my head hurt. I’ve been a fan for a couple of years now and I’m not sure why I didn’t share his work here before. Maybe I did…anyway - he definitely deserves to appear again if my feeble mind has forgotten the first time around.

His collage work is beyond comparison, in my humble opinion. Sometimes I feel like giving up all the other work in my life and locking myself away ’til I can achieve something even remotely like this. However, I think some people are just innately genius, and no amount of locking away can make me him. Which upsets me a bit. But at least I can admire him - at least he exists. Does that make sense? I’ll stop now. No wait - just to say I love him. I mean, his work. Okay. Yeah - one ticket for the local Stalker Convention please.

Check out his commercial work >here< and his personal work >here< You can also buy relatively inexpensive prints of his work >here<

“You have to start loving yourself pretty early on to make the transition, because if you are finding flaws in your perfect 24-year old body, you are really going to be a mess when you are 44 or 64. When you are younger, you want to be perfect, but later you learn that perfect isn’t really that interesting.”

— Susan Sarandon, on aging gracefully

I wonder would I have taken this on board when I was 24…

How is this for amazing? I’ve always secretly longed to be a bit of a wilderness urchin, living in a tent, not bothering with the washing or the makeup. I have now realised such a life would be inimitably better in haute couture and duvets tied to my dirty self. While being photographed by Steven Meisel. For Vogue. Yes - I’ll take it.

Dave Coffey, the writer, director and actor from the satirical mockumentary ’Dan & Becs’ has a new Tallaght version of  said same“Dan & Becs” airing on RTE2 on September 14th… …“Sarah & Steve” was written and directed by Dave, and also written by Emmet Kirwin who plays ‘Steve’.

‘Sarah and Steve” is a sweet and incredibly funny look at the relationship between shop assistant ‘Steve’ and hairdresser ‘Sarah’, who is played by the quite brilliant and pretty Charlene Gleeson.

Take a look at the promos, become a fan of them on facebook, tell your friends, and generally show some Irish talent the love.

After experiencing the loveliness of Amiina at St. Canice’s Cathedral in Kilkenny on Sunday night (part of the ‘Wired’ programme for the Kilkenny Arts Week ), I felt the need to inject myself with a healthy dose of Sigur Ros. Especially as Kjartan from Sigur Ros was playing with Amiina on Sunday, and the man is just beautiful. *sigh*

I’m in a somewhat …. mood today so my choice is ‘Ara Batur’ from the latest album ‘Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust.’

Do me a favour - go to your room, close the curtains, lie down. Get comfortable. Put on this song. Turn it up. Close your eyes and wait for the amazingness that happens 7 minutes and 45 seconds into it…
